The basic mechanic of betting in rounds is the same, but there are many variations that involve forced bets. In some positions, players need to bet a certain amount of money or their entire stack. This is a type of forced bet called a blind. Another form of forced bet is the ante.
Before the start of the game, the dealer determines the values of the chips that are to be distributed to the players. He or she also shuffles the cards and deals them one at a time to the players. When the cards have been dealt, each player will be able to see his or her hand.

Cards from the pockets can be used to make a straight, three-of-a-kind, or even a flush. There are variations of poker that award the pot to the lowest hand, not considering the possibility of a flush.
In a game of stud, each player receives five or seven cards. Each player uses these cards to create his or her best hand. They can then bet, raise, or fold to win. Some stud games are played with a full 52-card deck.
Community card poker is a variation of standard poker that involves a dealer dealing pocket cards to each player. Players then build their hand using their cards and community cards. Unlike in stud, each player is not allowed to swap their cards with the dealer.
Another version of poker, no-limit poker, allows unlimited betting during the betting rounds. No-limit poker is sometimes played with a deck of standard cards, but sometimes a special version of the game is played.
